The Legal Manager will play a crucial role in our Loan Against Property department, offering legal guidance and support to ensure the bank’s operations are compliant with regulations. This role involves managing a team of legal professionals, overseeing legal documentation, and providing strategic advice to mitigate legal risks. The manager will collaborate with various teams, including credit, collections, and operations, to ensure a smooth and compliant loan process.

• Provide legal expertise and support to the Loan Against Property team, ensuring compliance with regulations and managing legal risks.
• Oversee and review legal documentation, including loan agreements, security documents, and other legal contracts.
• Offer strategic legal advice to mitigate risks and ensure the bank’s interests are protected during the loan process.
• Collaborate with credit, collections, and operations teams to ensure a seamless and compliant loan journey for customers.
• Manage a team of legal professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective legal services.
• Stay updated with legal and regulatory changes, and advise the bank on any necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and provide insights on potential legal implications.
• Represent the bank in legal proceedings, negotiations, and mediations, as required.
• Maintain strong relationships with external legal counsel and industry experts to seek advice and support.

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or an equivalent legal degree is mandatory.
• Admission to the Bar Council of India or a valid license to practice law is essential.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a legal role, with a focus on banking and finance law.
• Proven experience in managing a legal team and providing strategic legal advice.
• Excellent knowledge of Indian contract law, property law, and relevant regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide creative legal solutions.

Providing overall Legal advice and support to all the departments like Manufacturing, HR, Finance, Spare Part Division, Commercial Marketing, IR, Vendor development, CAD, CIT etc. by providing legal support in Litigation Management, Corporate Legal Support and Advisory, Compliances, IPR management, Legal Training and proactive legal advisory.

A purpose driven role for you

– Managing entire litigation portfolio with an objective to reduce litigations exposure and contest cases filed by and against the company with an intension to get positive orders/judgments.
– Efficiently examining the contracts to provide inputs related to recent regulations/acts/notifications issued by Government Authorities and judgments passed by Courts/Tribunals, with an intention to strengthen the documents so that any conflict and litigation exposure is avoided on the company.
– Managing entire portfolio of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) including Patents, Designs and Trade Marks by filing timely renewals of IPR, filing new registrations and taking appropriate legal action for protection of our registered patents, design and trademarks, including IPR of global business.
– Providing active legal support to plants by issuing legal advisories on Legal compliance matters such as Legal Metrology Act, PF and Gratuity related issues. IR issues, HR issues, Vendor related issues and other strategic issues where legal support and advice is required for minimizing any type of exposure on the company.
– Providing Legal support, Training and Advisories to the Corporate and all departments/functions in any matter which they approach legal for support and advisory so that exposures are minimized/controlled in an effective manner.

A Day in the life

– Formulation of effective strategy to contest such litigation.
Proper coordination with external advocates and support and explain them about our stand.
Vetting and approving the draft petitions/replies/documents received from external Advocates.
– Understanding the requirement and commercials involved in that particular transaction.
Formulating strategy for strengthening of the documents by incorporating points to safeguard company’s interest without compromising with commercial understanding.
– Continuous review of IPR internally and taking action for registration/renewal of such IPR in coordination with concerned commercial and other teams.
Filing and contesting litigations for protecting IPRs as per management mandate.
– Reviewing the current practise followed by Plant with regard to legal compliance.
To provide advisories in matters of labour law, service matters, statutory compliances. Resolving vendor relates issues and other strategic issues.
– Facilitating all department in discussions, negotiations and finalization of different commercial understanding/transactions in a manner that such exposure is avoided/minimized.
Providing advisory to understand the issue and take appropriate steps to get into any transaction without any future legal exposure.
