Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) and large Municipal-Owned Utilities (MOUs) are actively seeking DERMS solutions to integrate and optimize Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) like solar PVs, energy storage batteries, and customer-owned generators, along with Demand Response (DR) assets such as smart thermostats and irrigation pumps.
OATI is looking for highly motivated, results-driven sales professionals to join our team and drive revenue growth for our industry-leading Grid Modernization solutions, including our proven and comprehensive DERMS platform.
This is a role for true sales hunters — individuals who thrive on prospecting, building relationships, and closing deals in a consultative, technology-driven environment.
What You’ll Do
Develop and execute an annual territory sales plan with clear actions to meet targets.
Identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities with IOUs and MOUs.
Build and manage a multi-year pipeline of opportunities.
Conduct customer research and outreach to uncover needs and position OATI solutions.
Deliver impactful sales presentations, demos, and consultations.
Stay informed on FERC Order 2222 and its opportunities for grid modernization.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer success.
Travel extensively (50%+) to meet clients and grow relationships.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
Minimum 10 years of sales experience, preferably in the utility/distribution industry.
Direct exposure to IOUs and MOUs is highly preferred.
Experience/knowledge of DERMS, demand management, DERs, and smart thermostat programs.
Proven track record of identifying and closing new business.
Strong ability to work in a team environment.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal).
Skilled with standard desktop tools.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
Must pass an acceptable background investigation report.
Preferred Skills
Understanding of FERC, NERC, and NAESB regulations.
Knowledge of software development processes.
Ability to navigate compliance and regulatory standards.
